A round top instead
There is no corner to catch. The 23.5 inch circle also means every seat has the same reach to the middle, which stops the argument about who got the good side.
Solid beech legs splay out from an iron wire frame, the shape most people recognise from mid century dining chairs. The top is MDF with a smooth white finish, and non-slip pads under every leg keep it still on a wood floor. The manufacturer gives the set to children aged 3 to 12.
Two chairs, one round table
Each chair has a moulded shell with a curved seat and a supportive back. The legs are solid beech, pinned into a black iron cross brace that stops the splay from spreading.

Table 23.5 inches across and 20 inches high, legs spreading 16 by 16 inches on the floor. Chairs stand 22 inches tall with the seat 12 inches up and 14.5 inches of depth.
