An umbrella hole with nothing in it
The open hole
A table with an umbrella hole is only finished while the umbrella is in it. The rest of the time, including all winter, there is an open hole in the middle of the top that crumbs and rain go straight through.
A cover that fits it
This table has a 2 in umbrella hole and the maker includes a wooden hole cover that sits flush with the slats. The umbrella and its base are bought separately.

The chairs
High woven backs, curved acacia arms and X shaped metal sides on adjustable foot pads. The zipped seat cushion covers come off to wash; dry them fully before refitting, and bring the cushions in before rain and over winter.
Space to allow
Slatted acacia so rain runs through, hairpin metal legs and adjustable foot pads. Layout guides suggest about 36 in behind each chair to pull it out, which makes the dining area roughly 11 ft by 9 ft. The maker says the chairs tuck under the table when not in use.
