What usually goes wrong
In a hallway, a narrow shop aisle or a rented room with one free wall, a round tree either does not fit or has to sit far enough out that people walk around it all December.
How this one answers it
A half tree is a full tree with the back removed. From the front it reads as a whole five foot tree, but it is only 1.1 feet deep, so it stands flush to a wall or tucks into a corner and nobody has to walk around it.

That depth is the whole point. Most five foot trees take close to three feet of floor front to back; this one takes a little over one. It is the measurement to check against your hallway before anything else.
Flush to the wall
Stood against a wall or pushed into a corner, the missing back is invisible and it reads as a whole tree. The manufacturer photographs it that way because that is the only way it is meant to be used: it is not a tree to walk around.
290 tips, 250 warm LEDs
Two hundred and ninety PVC tips is a modest count, but a half tree only has to fill the half you can see, so it looks fuller than the number suggests. The 250 warm LEDs are already wired through them, and the treetop is reinforced where a thin tree usually droops.
Plug in and eight modes
Power runs through a UL certificated transformer. Eight flash modes cover steady on, slow fade, wave and comb patterns among others, which is more control than a tree at this size usually offers, and the whole thing weighs about six pounds.

Frequently asked questions
Is the back really missing?
Yes. It is a tree split down its length, so there are no branches behind. Against a wall or in a corner you cannot tell, but it will look wrong standing free in a room.
Does it come with a plastic cap on it?
The manufacturer notes a plastic cap that should be removed before installation and says it has no function. If yours is damaged or absent on arrival, nothing about the tree is affected.
What do the 8 modes do?
They include steady on, slow fade and moving patterns such as waves and a comb effect, with more besides. The manufacturer does not list all eight by name, so we do not invent the rest.
How full does 290 tips look?
Fuller than the number suggests, because all of them face forward. A round tree spends half its tips on the side you never see, which is where the saving comes from.
Will it stand up on its own?
It stands on an iron stand and weighs about six pounds, so it is stable but light. Against a wall it is fine; in a busy hallway with a dog or a toddler, put something behind the stand.
