Why wood on the arms and legs?
Because those are the parts that take the punishment. The maker states the armrests and legs are acacia to stop the chair deforming and to add stability. Solid wood also takes the rub of hands and shoes better than woven strand.
What is the table for?
Whatever you need. The maker calls it an end table, a side table and a coffee table, and it works as all three at 20 in across and 19 in high. The lower rattan shelf takes the things that usually clutter the top.
How low is the seat?

What care does the acacia need?
