A flat top with nowhere to stop
Small round patio tables are the worst place to put a glass. The top is flat, the surface is slick after rain, and one nudge from a chair leg or a dog sends the whole thing over the edge.
A top that dishes in the middle
The table here is concave rather than flat. The maker's own reason is that it places items more securely, and the curved edges keep a cup that does slide from carrying on off the table.
