No shade means no afternoon
A sand tray in full July sun gets abandoned by eleven in the morning. Dragging a parasol over from the patio works once, then the base goes back where it came from and the sand gets left.
Shade built into the table
The umbrella runs through the centre of the frame on its own steel pole, so it is never somewhere else. It spans 57 inches, which covers both benches and the whole top, and it winds up and down over a 27 inch range as the child grows.
Fir wood with a water based paint, built as an A frame with the two benches fixed into the legs. The manufacturer lists ASTM and CPSIA certification and rates both the table and the benches to 110 lb. Two panels in the top lift away to expose moulded trays underneath, each 15 by 12.5 inches and 3.5 inches deep.
Three tables in one frame
