No socket, no evening
The patio has no power out there
Almost nobody has an outdoor outlet near the seating. So the good half of a summer evening ends at dusk, or it ends with a lead run out of a window and taped across the paving.
The canopy is the light fitting
A solar panel on the arm charges all day and feeds 32 beads down the ribs plus a brighter light at the hub, for about 6 to 8 hours on a full charge. One button turns them on. Nothing is plugged in and nothing runs across the ground.
Where the beads sit
In the top down view you can follow the LED strips straight out along each rib to the corners of the square. The small dark panel at the crown is the solar collector. Everything else is structure: the post on one side, the braced arm, and the cross base on the ground.
Square shade over a long table
Ten feet by ten feet reaches past the ends of a rectangular table, which is what a round canopy of the same width cannot manage. The end seats stay covered. Underneath, the rim is 7 feet up and the crown 8.6 feet, so nobody stoops going in and out.
Three parts to the lighting
The night panel breaks it down: beads along the ribs, the solar panel that charges them, and the one button switch on the post. The manufacturer suggests leaving the lights off while the panel is charging during the day if you want the longest run in the evening.
What six to eight hours looks like
Lit over a table, the beads give a white light straight down onto the plates rather than out across the garden. Six to eight hours is the manufacturer's own figure from a full day's charge. A stretch of grey weather will shorten it, which is true of every solar light.

How much area does the canopy cover, and how high does it sit?
A hundred square feet, as a true 10 foot square, which takes a six to eight seat rectangular table including the end chairs. The rim sits 7 feet off the ground and the crown 8.6 feet, the most generous headroom of anything in this range.
Does it come with a weighted base?
The 40 inch cross frame is included. The weights are not. This product's own dimension drawing asks for a 100 kg base, which is 220 lb. The description text on the same record says 90 lb, so the manufacturer's paperwork contradicts itself, and 220 lb is the figure we would work to. A cantilever hangs its whole canopy to one side of the post, so the ballast is doing real work.
How do I get it through a Canadian winter?
Close it, let the canopy dry completely, wipe the post and store it dry. Canadian care guides point at the same two failures every time: snow sitting on an open canopy until a rib gives, and fabric folded away damp until mildew sets in.
