By three o'clock the shade has moved
The sun leaves a fixed umbrella behind
Shade that is right at noon is on the lawn by mid afternoon. The usual answer is to shuffle the table and chairs after it.
Release, turn, lock
Release the locking mechanism and the canopy rotates round the post to where the sun has gone. The sandbag base and the furniture stay put.
A table by the pool
The arm reaches the canopy over a dining table and its chairs by a pool. The post and its sandbags stand to one side, well away from the table legs.
The drawing for this colour
The drawing gives 8 feet overall and 6.2 feet to the rim, with a 10 foot canopy. The cross base is 36 inches square and each sandbag measures 23.5 by 8 by 4 inches. Keep the low rim away from walkways.
Turning the shade
Release the locking mechanism with one hand and turn the canopy with the other. It goes a full circle, so the same umbrella can shade the table at lunch and the sofa in the evening.
Filling the base
The three steps show it: set up the cross base, fill each bag with sand, and buckle it in place. The manufacturer's figure on this image differs from the listing text, so see the FAQ before counting on a number.
What you get
Sandbags in the box
A crossed base and two fillable sandbags come with it, so it can be weighted down the day it arrives.
Infinite tilt
Loosen the lock, move the handle, and the canopy stops at any angle.
360 degree rotation
Unlock and the canopy turns a full circle round the post to follow the sun.
Enclosed top joint
The top connector is enclosed with a self-locking hinge, which the manufacturer says stops sway and keeps water out.
Fixing strap
An extra strap ties the canopy to the pole for more wind resistance.
Eight metal ribs
Eight heavy-duty ribs hold the canopy, with an air vent at the top to release gusts.

Who is this perfect for?
People who want it working on day one
The sandbags are in the carton. Fill them with play sand from any hardware store and the umbrella is safe to open that afternoon, with no second delivery to wait for.
Sofa groups by the pool
The arm reaches over lounge seating from one side, so the shade lands on cushions rather than on a pole in the middle of them. Rotate it off the sofa and over the table at dinner.
Exposed, breezy yards
A vent, a fixing strap and an enclosed top joint are the details aimed at keeping a big canopy steady on a gusty day. Close it anyway when a storm is forecast, and fasten the strap round the folded canopy.

Frequently asked questions
How much do the sandbags hold?
Two sandbags come with it. The listing text says they hold up to 220 lb, but the manufacturer's own base image on this colour says up to 116 lb, so we are not quoting a figure. Fill both completely and close the umbrella in strong wind.
How high is the rim?
This colour's drawing puts the rim at 6.2 feet and the top at 8 feet, with a 10 foot canopy. That is enough to sit under comfortably; standing adults may dip their heads at the edge.
Does it tilt as well?
The listing text describes an infinite tilt worked by a locking handle. The images for this colour show the rotation but not the tilt, so check the handle on delivery if tilt is essential to you.
What should I do in bad weather?
The manufacturer notes that in severe weather the umbrella should be closed to prolong its life. Crank it down and wrap the fixing strap round the canopy. Store it dry over winter.
