You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
The four indoor units are sized separately at 9,000, 9,000, 12,000 and 18,000 BTU, all fed by one 35,000 BTU outdoor unit, so no room is stuck with capacity meant for a different one. The manufacturer rates it 22.5 SEER2 for cooling and 10 HSPF2 for heating, with R454B refrigerant and low ambient heating to -25°C (-13°F).
A basement, a bedroom, a kitchen diner and an office have four different heat loads, four different amounts of glass and four different schedules. One capacity fitted four times gets all four a little bit wrong.
The heads here are rated 9,000, 9,000, 12,000 and 18,000 BTU, chosen room by room rather than matched for the sake of it, and each carries its own controller. Only the zones that are switched on draw from the 35,000 BTU outdoor unit.
A quad zone system does what four separate single zone systems do, from one outdoor unit and one set of brackets. Four rooms, four set points, one machine to service. One 35,000 BTU outdoor unit means one pad or one set of wall brackets outside, and one machine to service each year.

Four of everything that is per zone: copper gas pipe, copper liquid pipe at 16 ft, communication wire at 19 ft, drain hose, remote with holder, wall sleeve and screw kit. Tape, putty and wall caps come eight up. That is most of the material list an installer would otherwise quote on top of the equipment.
The yellow label and the badges beside it are the whole efficiency story: 22.5 SEER2 for cooling, 10 HSPF2 for heating, R454B refrigerant, and ENERGY STAR. The small graph shows the inverter line holding almost flat while the non inverter line swings above and below the set point all day.

Each zone can be driven from the app, from the handset that ships with it, or by voice through Alexa or Google Home. The practical benefit is small and daily: turning the home office down at 5 pm without walking into the room, or warming a bedroom from the car.
The curve in the photo runs from conversation level down to 30 dB at the lowest fan speed. Screen off kills the display, sleep mode drifts the set point through the night, and the 24H timer can shut the zone down at a set hour. That combination is what makes a head over a bed tolerable.

One 35,000 BTU outdoor unit runs all four indoor units. Each zone starts, stops and holds its own temperature, so an empty room costs nothing to leave alone.
A common rule of thumb is 20 to 25 BTU per square foot (Carrier publishes 25). On that basis a 9,000 BTU unit suits roughly 360 to 450 sq ft, a 12,000 BTU unit suits roughly 480 to 600 sq ft and an 18,000 BTU unit suits roughly 720 to 900 sq ft. Natural Resources Canada points to CSA F280-12 for a proper load calculation.
The compressor varies its speed instead of cycling on and off. Published ratings are 22.5 SEER2 for cooling and 10 HSPF2 for heating on R454B refrigerant.
A chassis electrical heater keeps the outdoor base pan clear. The manufacturer rates heating down to -25°C (-13°F) and cooling up to 55°C (131°F).
Each zone gets a 16 ft insulated copper line set and 19 ft of communication wire, plus a drain hose. That is the material most quotes list separately, four times over on a system this size.
The outdoor unit runs on 208-230V 60Hz. This is not a standard 15 amp household outlet. It wants its own branch circuit, sized from the MCA and maximum breaker figures on the unit's own nameplate, with a disconnect within reach.
Wifi app, a remote with a digital display for each zone, and voice control through Alexa or Google Home. A 24 hour timer and a child lock are built in.
The indoor filters pull out, rinse under a tap and go back in. Four heads means four sets, and clean filters are the cheapest way to keep airflow and running cost where they should be.

Three ways people usually fix four uneven rooms in a Canadian home. This is how they differ in practice, not in price.
| This 4 zone system | A window or portable unit per room | Adding central ducted air | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Separate temperature per room | Yes, four independent set points | Yes, but each room needs its own machine | Usually one thermostat for the whole zone |
| Heats as well as cools | Yes, rated to -25°C (-13°F) | Many are cooling only | Depends on the furnace or air handler fitted |
| Ductwork | None, one cored hole per zone | None | Full duct network to every room |
| Machines outside | One outdoor unit | One in every window | One condenser plus the indoor plant |
| Windows stay clear | Yes | No | Yes |
| Who installs it | Licensed HVAC and electrical trades | You do, out of the carton | Licensed trades, often several days on site |

Capacities run from 9,000 BTU, roughly 360 to 450 sq ft, up to 18,000 BTU, roughly 720 to 900 sq ft. Each room gets a head sized to it rather than one size fitted four times.
Older houses, additions, attic conversions and finished basements rarely have duct where it is needed. Four zones from one outdoor unit avoids opening up ceilings.
This is a heat pump, not a cooling only air conditioner. It carries a 10 HSPF2 heating rating and a chassis electrical heater on the outdoor unit for cold weather.

Sizing runs off the heat load of the room, not just its floor area, and Natural Resources Canada points to CSA F280-12 for the real calculation. As a rough check, 20 to 25 BTU per square foot is the usual rule of thumb. On that basis a 9,000 BTU unit suits roughly 360 to 450 sq ft, a 12,000 BTU unit suits roughly 480 to 600 sq ft and an 18,000 BTU unit suits roughly 720 to 900 sq ft. Poor insulation, large west facing windows or a 9 ft ceiling all push the figure up.
No. On any multi zone system the indoor ratings are not meant to be added together, and multi zone sizing guides say so plainly. The 35,000 BTU figure is what the outdoor unit can deliver at one time, shared among whichever zones are calling for it. Four rooms rarely peak at the same moment, which is why this combination is offered.
The manufacturer rates low ambient heating down to -25°C (-13°F), helped by an electric heater in the outdoor chassis. Natural Resources Canada notes that air source heat pumps lose capacity and efficiency as it gets colder, with typical COPs falling from 2.0 to 5.4 at 8°C to 1.1 to 3.7 at -8°C, and that most newer units have a minimum operating temperature between -15°C and -25°C. Keep a backup heat source for the coldest stretches.
No on both counts. The outdoor unit runs on 208-230V 60Hz, so it needs its own branch circuit and an electrician, not a wall socket. Refrigerant work is also regulated: Ontario, for example, states that only a certified technician may remove, discharge, handle and dispose of refrigerants including HFCs, and that mechanical work on refrigeration equipment needs a Certificate of Qualification on top of that. Other provinces have their own halocarbon rules, and the federal Code of Practice says the same thing in plainer terms.
