The parasol problem
A free standing parasol needs a heavy base, it shades the wrong patch by three o'clock, and on a gusty day it is the thing everybody keeps an eye on. Moving the lounger means moving the parasol too.
The shade is part of the chair
This canopy is hinged to the head end of the lounger. Pull it up and it covers your head and shoulders; fold it back and the chair is in full sun. Because it travels with the frame, shifting the lounger across the terrace does not mean a second trip with a base.

The canopy panels fold over the head end and back down behind it, and the seat cushion is held to the deck by hook and loop fasteners so it does not creep forward when the back moves. A small cup table sits on the side of the frame, low down, at the height your hand falls.
The numbers
77 in long and 23.5 in wide, deck 13 in off the ground, cushion 51.5 in and 3 in thick. With the canopy up the chair stands between 44.5 in and 50 in. Lounger guides ask for 30 in to 36 in of clear space around a lounger so there is room to walk past the foot end.

Shade that travels with the chair means no base to weight down and nothing to blow over. Fold the canopy back and the same chair is in full sun.
Five positions
The back has five settings, from flat for sleeping to upright for reading, and the canopy works at any of them.
Canopy down
Folded back, the canopy sits behind the head rather than coming off, so there is nothing to lose and nothing to store separately. That also means the folded canopy adds a little to the length behind the head end, which is worth knowing if the lounger is going against a wall. The cushion cover is removable and washable, so the soft parts go indoors for a Canadian winter while the rattan and steel stay out under a cover with the feet clear of standing meltwater.
