Straight units waste the angle
A flat play kitchen pushed into a corner leaves two triangles of dead floor behind it, and the room still feels full.
An L that fills the angle
This one wraps around the corner with two arms, each about 33 inches long. The dead space becomes counter, and the middle of the room stays clear for everything else.
White and soft pink MDF make up the two arms, papered behind the counter with a printed pink brick. A tall fridge and freezer stand at one end of the L. The long arm carries a range hood over a stove, an oven, a washing machine with a round door and a fabric bin underneath.
Write the menu, then make it
Chalk the menu on the fridge door. Rinse the peppers in the sink. Switch on the range hood, which whooshes. Put the pans on the stove, which lights up and hisses. The game has a proper running order.
The ice maker is the showpiece
Drop the two supplied ice cubes into the top, press the lever on the fridge front and they fall into the cup. It is the sort of small mechanism children repeat forty times in a row.
Dressing up comes with it
The manufacturer packs a chef hat and a pink apron alongside the cookware, so a child can be in costume before they start. The rest is a pot with a lid, a skillet, three utensils, a knife and board, two ice cubes, a cup and four vegetables.

Each arm needs about 33 inches of wall and the unit is roughly 12 inches deep. It stands 33.5 inches tall and weighs 52 pounds. The manufacturer recommends it for children aged 3 and over.
