A sound chair with a tired seat
On a folding chair it is almost always the fabric that fails first. The wood is still straight, the joints still work, and the seat has gone thin at the fold. Most of the time that means the whole chair goes out.
A second set in the box
This one arrives with replacement fabric panels, in a blue and white stripe, that fix on with hook and loop fasteners rather than being sewn or riveted in place. Changing them is a job for a wet afternoon, and it also means the chair can change colour without changing chair.

The numbers

Four positions
Four angles, set by a wooden joint rather than a metal catch. The canopy pivots on a knuckle at the top of the frame, so the shade follows the sun rather than sitting over your knees all afternoon.
Spare fabric
A second set of fabric panels comes in the box, in a blue and white stripe, held on with hook and loop fasteners rather than sewn in place.
The wood
Birch on triangular structures. Birch is a hardwood but not a naturally oily one, so a folded chair stored under cover over a Canadian winter will outlast one left on the lawn.
