Does it run on an ordinary outlet?
Yes. The manufacturer's own specification gives 115V at 60Hz, drawing 6.8 A, which is a standard Canadian household socket on a normal 15 amp circuit. Plug it into the wall rather than a light duty extension cord.
Which BTU figure should I use for my room?
The SACC figure, 5,000 BTU. It is the seasonally adjusted rating that reflects real cooling season temperature and humidity, and Danby notes it comes out lower than the ASHRAE laboratory number for the same machine.
Will the window kit fit a small bedroom window?
Its range is 36 to 49 inches, which is wider than most kits in this category. A narrow window may fall below the minimum, so measure the opening first. Casement windows need a panel made to the exact size.
How often will I need to drain it?
With the 10 ft hose fitted to a floor drain, never. Without it, the answer depends on how humid the room is: dry air produces almost nothing, while a sticky week produces water steadily.
