A self-evaporating design with automatic defrost, rated 8,000 BTU over about 230 sq ft and moving 290 cubic metres of air an hour. Sleep mode lifts the set point by 1.8 F every hour so the compressor works less as the night cools.
Two features on this one are worth understanding before you buy, because they change how much attention the machine needs through a season: self-evaporation and automatic defrost.

A self-evaporating system sends most of the condensate back over the hot coil, where it leaves as vapour through the exhaust hose. Automatic defrost clears the coil if ice forms on a cool humid morning. Between them, there is far less to do than people expect.
Air is drawn in through a high density filter screen before it reaches the coil, which keeps dust and hair out of the machine as well as out of the room. The filter is removable so it can be rinsed, and the castors and handle let you take it to a tap.

The set point climbs 1.8 F, or one degree Celsius, every hour. Your body cools while you sleep, so a temperature that felt right at eleven is too cold by three. Letting the number drift up keeps the room comfortable and the compressor quieter.
Most condensate is carried out as vapour through the exhaust hose rather than collected in a tray.
Clears ice from the coil on a cool, humid day so the unit keeps its air flow.
Runs for moisture rather than temperature, with a 25.5 inch water pipe for continuous draining.
The refrigerant this model is charged with, as published by the manufacturer.
Pulls out from 9 inches to 61.5 inches, so it can be kept short and neat when the window is close.

Most of the water leaves as vapour through the hose, and a drain pipe handles the rest.
One bedroom, study or small living room rather than an open plan floor.
The set point rises 1.8 F an hour overnight, which keeps the compressor from cycling hard at 3 am.

Not quite. In dry or moderate conditions most of the condensate leaves as vapour through the exhaust hose and you may never touch it. In very humid weather more water collects than the system can evaporate, which is what the drain pipe is for.
On a cool, humid day the evaporator coil can ice up, which strangles air flow. The defrost cycle pauses cooling and melts the ice off before it builds. You do not have to do anything.
The manufacturer rates it at 65 dB or under at full tilt, which is around the level of normal conversation. On low fan speed and in sleep mode it is noticeably quieter.
No. The rated coverage is 230 sq ft, which is one room. Cool air does not carry far through a doorway and the exhaust hose keeps the unit tied to a window.
