A circle over a long seat
Benches, balcony tables and narrow terraces are long and thin, and a round canopy wastes half its span over the paving.

Six feet along and four and a half deep suits a bench or a balcony table, with the edge at 5.9 feet.
Over the bench
Over a bench and table, the rectangle running the length of the seat.
