What usually goes wrong
On a tall tree the lowest platform often sits well above the floor, and a kitten, a heavy cat or an older one simply never gets onto the frame. The top half then goes unused for the life of the tree.
How this one answers it
A wooden ladder with sisal carpet treads runs from the base board to the second level. A cat can walk up it rather than jumping, and the treads give it something to scratch on the way.
A green mushroom cap on a tall sisal column, over a bark patterned condo and a wooden ladder leaning on the base board.
Fifty six inches, three stops
The mushroom nest sits at the top, 12 inches tall with an 8 by 8 inch opening. The condo below runs 19.5 by 16 by 12.5 with a 6.5 inch door at about 32.5 inches, and the ladder climbs from a base of 30 by 20. Thirty three pounds is published for each tier.
A cap and a log
The nest is a mushroom cap with a hole in the side, so a cat sits inside it at the highest point on the frame. The condo below is printed with a branch pattern rather than being plain plush. Both are enclosed, which suits a cat that prefers cover to a view.
A ladder with sisal treads
The wooden ladder leaning against the frame has sisal carpet on its steps, so the way up doubles as somewhere to scratch. It also means a kitten or an older cat can walk onto the second level rather than committing to a jump from the floor.
Five and a half inch posts
The columns measure 5.5 inches across on a base of 30 by 20. That combination is what holds a frame this tall still when a cat lands on the mushroom cap, which overhangs the column it sits on and puts the load off centre.

Who is this perfect for?
Cats that hide
Both resting places on this frame are enclosed, one at the top and one in the middle, so a cat never has to choose between height and cover.
Kittens and older cats
The ladder gives a walking route onto the tree, which matters at the start of a cat's life and again when the jumping stops.
Rooms with plants
A mushroom cap and a bark patterned log. It is styled as woodland rather than as furniture, and it suits a room that already leans that way.
