Unzip and detach them, then wash them cool and let them dry fully before they go back on. Damp foam inside a cover is what causes the musty smell people blame on the fabric.
Will cream stay clean under a tree?
Less easily than a dark colour. Sap and pollen show quickly. If the set has to live under planting, the darker versions of this same set will need less attention.
