The glass top that will not sit still
A tabletop that slides and taps
Glass tops sitting loose on a metal frame move when you lean on them and tap every time somebody sets a glass down. Worse, a top that creeps towards an edge is a top waiting to come off it.
Eight bumpers between glass and frame
This top is fixed by eight non slip bumpers spaced around the frame. They stop the glass moving and take the metal to glass contact out of the equation, which is what causes the tapping.
Grey cushions against black weave are the softer of the two colourways and hide dust better than black on black.
Under the glass
The inset shows one of the eight bumpers that hold the top. Tempered glass is the easiest outdoor surface to keep clean: a cloth takes off pollen and spills, with no slats to dig crumbs out of.
Set up outside
Two chairs and a table on paving. The frames are square section metal and the seats and backs are open woven black rattan, so wind passes through rather than pushing the chairs around.
Putting it away
Fold the back down, lay the cushion on it, push the chair under the table. The maker's final photo shows both chairs tucked in with only the table showing, which is the whole point on a small deck.
The grey cushions
Elastic high density filling under a zipped cover that comes off. Each cushion is 18 in square and 2.5 in thick, which is enough to sit on a woven base for an evening without feeling the frame.
