Four modes is one more than most units in this price band, and the extra one is sleep, which is the setting that decides whether the machine gets used at night or switched off.
What each setting is really for
Cooling holds a temperature. Dry pulls 50 pints a day without driving the room cold, which is the right pick on a humid but mild afternoon. Fan moves 330 cubic metres an hour with the compressor off, for a cool evening when air movement is enough.
The safety side, plainly stated
A child lock freezes the panel, a grid over the intake keeps fingers away from the fan, overload protection cuts power on a current spike, and the model carries ETL and DOE listings on the manufacturer's own artwork.
55 dB, and what that compares to
The scale in this photo puts the unit at 55 dB, between a fridge at 40 dB and conversation at 65 dB. In sleep mode the set point climbs 1.8 F, or one degree Celsius, an hour, so it runs less and quieter as the night goes on.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the SACC rating lower than the BTU on the front?
They are two different tests of the same machine. ASHRAE measures under fixed laboratory conditions; SACC is the newer seasonally adjusted method that reflects real cooling season temperature and humidity. Danby notes SACC is generally the lower figure. Size your room from the 7,000 BTU number.
How often will it need draining?
It has a self-evaporating system, so in most conditions the water leaves as vapour through the exhaust hose. When the air is humid enough to beat that, the 650 ml tank catches the rest and the 25.5 inch hose drains it continuously if you fit it.
What windows does the kit fit?
Double hung, single hung and sliding sash windows, up to 47 inches. Crank out casement windows need a panel made to the opening, because a generic sliding kit will not seal against that frame.
Does it need a special outlet?
No. It runs on 115V at 60Hz from a normal Canadian wall socket, on a 6 ft cord. Plug it straight into the wall rather than a light duty extension lead.

You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly.
